CALBAYOG CITY, Samar, Dec. 1 (PNA) -– The city government here is pushing for the formulation of barangay (village) development plans up for implementation in the next six years.
The city launched the training workshop last week for the villages of Capoocan, Carmen and Obrero, but it will cover all 157 barangays.
In his message, Mayor Ronaldo Aquino said that a big task awaits them as city’s progress starts from a successfully formulated barangay development plan.
Mayor Aquino also stressed, “In unity comes progress” and further called for their support to the economic plan of the city government.
Meanwhile, Harold Sodusta of the city planning and development office said that they target to reach out to all multi-sectoral representatives in 157 villages until early 2015.
He explained that after every training-workshop, village officials are given one month to formulate their six-year development plan, present their output in a village assembly for constituents’ assessment, submit it to the village council for legislation, then submit the document to Sangguniang Panglungsod for the latter’s approval.
”Once approved, the document will now become the basis in the implementation of plans and programs in the village for six years regardless of change in administration,” Sodusta said.
The workshop is spearheaded by the city planning and development office, city solid waste management office, city social welfare and development office, city health office, city agriculture office, city environment and natural resources office and city disaster risk reduction and management office.
