MANILA, Dec 1 (PNA) — Malacanang on Monday said the Aquino government will always implement the rule of law and will run after anyone who will violate it.
Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Herminio Coloma stressed this following the filing of charges against a leader of a farmers’ group, which held a protest rally in front of the family residence of President Benigno Aquino III in Times Street in Quezon City Saturday.
He said that the protesters were given more than an hour to conduct their rally since it’s part of their right.
The rally, however, turned violent when policemen were about to disperse members of the Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP), which resulted in the hurting of 12 policemen.
“At sa kabila ng pagbibigay ng palugit sa kanila, ang isinukli naman nila ay karahasan sa pamamagitan ng vandalismo at pananakit sa mga kagawad ng ating kapulisan kaya’t dapat ipakita ng ating pamahalaan ‘yung determinasyon na pairalin ang batas sa lahat ng pagkakataon,” he said.
Reports said the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) has filed physical injury, slight physical injury, and vandalism charges against one Antonio Flores, aka “Ka Tunying”, 66 year old and KMP Secretary General. (PNA)
