MALOLOS CITY, Bulacan, Nov. 27 (PNA) –Bulakenyos will witness the lighting of the huge Singkaban Christmas tree on Friday in front of the provincial capitol here, signifying the start of the yuletide celebration in the province.
Governor Wilhelmino Sy-Alvarado said the annual traditional Christmas tree lighting aims to put Christmas closer to the hearts of Bulakenyos.
Alvarado also said that the activity will encourage Bulakenyos to celebrate Christmas season with love, joy, peacefulness and forgiveness, which is the true essence of the celebration.
Standing at 50 feet, the gigantic Christmas tree is made from meticulously carved bamboo or “Singkaban”, adorned with colorful decors like Christmas balls, lights and flowers.
Aside from the annual traditional Christmas tree lighting to be led by the provincial officials, Bulakenyos will also witness various programs to add color and glow to the festivity.
The first part of the program will showcase the talents of Bulakenyos in the Konsierto ng mga Artistang Bulakenyo featuring BulSU Saringhimig, BulSU Lahing Kayumanggi, Sining Bulakenyo, Talentadong Pinoy Grand-finalist Melbelyn Caluag and many more.
Also, before the countdown to the lighting ceremony, the audience will be serenaded with Christmas carols by different chorale groups.
Meanwhile, Alvarado encouraged all the Bulakenyos to help one another and share the joy and inspiration that the Christmas season brings
“The celebration of Christmas is important to every Filipino because this is the time for sharing and loving. It is nice to remember the important message of Christmas that is to thank our Lord for all the blessings,” he said. (PNA)
