COTABATO CITY, Nov. 27 (PNA) — Iraqi envoy Ahmed Al Kamaly today visited the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM), met with regional officials and donated dozens of Qur’an to ARMM education officials in support of the ARMM government’s Islamic education thrusts in the region.
After meeting with ARMM officials led by Vice Governor Haroun Al Rashid Lucman and Executive Secretary Laisa Alamia, Kamaly handed over the English and Arabic copies of the Qur’an to cleric Alzad Sattar, ARMM’s deputy Islamic education secretary, during a simple program.
Kamaly had told ARMM officials that his visit was to familiarize the Iraqi government on the autonomy and the upcoming Bangsamoro government as a result of the government peace overtures in southern Philippines.
Iraq is a member of the influential Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), an association of 50 Muslim countries.
The OIC had been actively supporting President Aquino’s administration in bringing genuine peace in Mindanao.
Kamaly said the Iraq government loves ARMM and Bangsamoro.
“When you love a person, you give him or her special presents and the Iraqi government is giving Qur’an for the Bangsamoro people,” Kamaly told reporters why he brought the Holy Books.
Alamia and Lucman lauded the Iraqi envoy for his concern to Bangsamoro people. (PNA)
