BACOLOD CITY, Nov. 24 (PNA) — Women and gender and development advocates in this city are supporting the 18-day campaign to end violence against women and children from November 25 to December 12.
Councilor Sonya Verdeflor, chairman of the City Council’s committee on women and gender, presided the recent meeting of the Inter-Agency Committee on Anti-Trafficking and Violence Against Women and Children (CIACAT-VAWC).
Verdeflor said they tackled several issues, including their 18-day campaign to end violence against women.
Various activities will be held as part of the continuing local efforts to eradicate women and children violence especially in the barangays.
“We will also join the province in their activities,” Verdeflor said.
Part of the activities in Bacolod is the formation of the CIACAT-VAWC Task Force on December 9.
The joint task force that will “man the field and lead in the surveillance, monitoring and reporting of crimes on human trafficking, child labor and maltreatment, and illegal recruitment, among others.”
Concerned agencies, civic groups, local authorities and non-government organizations are enjoined to take part in the city’s ongoing pursuit to lessen the number of filed reports on these issues, the group said. (PNA)
