MARIVELES, Bataan, Nov. 23 (PNA) –It was a Friday before dusk to remember in this town when Christmas lights were switched on at the municipal hall and its surroundings and adjacent boulevard by the sea.
Mariveles has the distinction of being the first municipality from 11 towns and one city in the province to open its Christmas lightings almost a month before December 25.
A mini-brass band composed of municipal employees provided romantic musical numbers before the countdown.
As night fell , town mayor Jesse Concepcion began the countdown and then, colorful lights on various Christmas decorations burst and filled the surroundings.
On were the lights of the 20-foot Christmas tree, plants and trees and the facade of the majestic-looking municipal hall.
Two big Santa Claus stand as if guarding the hall.
Promenaders at the boulevard facing the sea where Manila Bay and West Philippines Sea meet were in “ohs” and “ahs” as Christmas stars adorning the posts were filled with attractive lights. (PNA)
