TACLOBAN CITY, Nov. 18 (PNA) — The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Eastern Visayas regional office got an additional budget of P585.45 million for the repair of infrastructure damaged by last year’s disaster.
DPWH Regional Director Rolando M. Asis said that two of the 19 projects funded under the 2014 supplemental budget are now ongoing with an overall completion rate of three percent.
“The DPWH is committed to reconstruct all damaged infrastructure damaged by Yolanda and redesign existing projects to make it climate resilient, hence, supporting the building back better and safer scheme,” Asis said.
Of the P585.45 million project funded by additional budget, P297.86 million is for Eastern Samar, P155.45 million for Leyte’s second district, P50.90 million for Leyte’s first district, P50.68 million for Leyte’s fifth district, P15.78 million for Tacloban City district, P9.10 million for the regional office, and P5.67 million for Southern Leyte district.
The additional budget will be used for repair of Department of Budget and Management regional office, protection drainage of Tacloban Airport, clearing of waterways, repair of bridges, rehabilitation of seawalls, upgrading of roads, and flood control structures. (PNA)
