SANTIAGO CITY, Isabela, Nov. 11 (PNA) — The local chief executive of this city has intensified his anti-gambling campaigns in coordination with the police in the city.
Santiago City Mayor Joseph Tan, in his desire to stop illegal gambling in the city, led the confiscations of video machines used in gambling and other gambling paraphernalia to send message to other illegal gamblers that the city government is sincere in its drive against illegal gambling.
Twenty pieces of video machines and one Salisi tables used in illegal gambling were confiscated and destroyed Monday at the Bulwagan ng Mamamayan using a pay loader witnessed by Mayor Tan and Santiago City Police Office (SCPO) chief S/Supt Alexander Santos.
Tan said he wanted the city to be free from any illegal gambling to prevent Santiaguenos from being addicted to it, most especially the students.
Mayor Tan has warned illegal gambling operators in the city that they will face the brunt of the law and will also lead them to incarceration once they are found guilty of the illegal gambling offense.
Meanwhile, SCPO chief S/Supt Alexander Santos expressed police support to the city government in its drive against illegal gambling.
Santos said the police force in the city is prepared to enforce local ordinances against illegal gambling in order that the city of Santiago will be a gambling-free city. (PNA)
