ORMOC City, Nov. 8 (PNA) — A staunch political leader here on Friday disclosed he has no second thought of joining the ruling Liberal Party (LP) following the continuous rehabilitation efforts of the Aquino Administration in his town, exactly a year after the devastation of Super Typhoon “Yolanda”.
Ormoc Mayor Edward Codilla, a member of the Lakas Christian-Muslim Democrat (Lakas-CMD) party, said that President Benigno Aquino III has already ordered the released P92-million fund for the recovery and rehabilitation projects in the affected areas of the city.
“I have been amazed by the gratitude extended by the Aquino administration for its continuing efforts of our reconstruction and recovery efforts after Typhoon ‘Yolanda’,” Codilla said.
The local chief executive noted Ormoc City suffered close to P4 billion in damages, in which he said the national government effectively took part in the reconstruction operations despite the fact that he does not belong to LP.
Although he admitted that the “bayanihan” spirit of his constituents plays a major role in fast tracking the rehabilitation efforts by cleaning the major streets leading to the hospitals, public market and the vicinity of the city hall.
He said that another P200 million is also in the pipeline which is scheduled to be released next month for the long-term recovery plan of the city.
Codilla said whether or not he will be accepted in the LP, he will surely support whoever the candidate that will get the endorsement of President Aquino. (PNA)
