Lucena barangay justices receive honorarium

Posted on November 7, 2014

LUCENA CITY, Quezon, Nov. 7 (PNA) –- Members of the justice council of different baragays in this city received their honorarium today from the city government.

The cash incentive was personally given by Mayor Roderick “Dondon” Alcala, assisted by Executive Assistant IV Joe Colar and City DILG Director Marcial Juangco.

Mayor Alcala told the barangay justices the city is indeed lucky to have the two officials who were constantly prepared to guide them (barangay justice members) in the performance of their duties.

The mayor also apologized to the barangay justice council because their honorarium was slightly delayed but on the other hand, some good came out of it because the incentive accumulated.

The city has a total of 420 barangay justices but only 160 received their honorarium due to varied reasons. They received their allowance for the second and third quarters of 2014.

One of the reasons for the delay of their honorarium is the failure to transmit some of required documents such as accomplishment report.

A barangay justice receives a P200/month allowance and their respective barangay chairmen has discretion to increase it.

Mayor Alcala subsequently requested to EA IV Joe Colar that in the next distribution of the honorarium, a training seminar be given to the barangay justices, to help them update their capability and orient the new justice members as to the proper dispensing of justice in the barangay level. (PNA)
