TANAUAN CITY, Batangas, Oct. 28 (PNA) — The City Government of Tanauan made history as it topped the recently concluded 1st Philippine Best Practice and Benchmarking Award.
Besting other entries from various national and local government entities, Tanauan City and the City of Marikina emerged as co-winners and earned the right to represent the country in the upcoming 3rd Global Benchmarking Award Competition to be held in Orlando, Florida, USA on December 3-4, 2014.
The 1st Philippine Best Practice and Benchmarking Competition was launched by the Philippine Society for Quality, Inc. (PSQ), a local affiliate of Global Benchmarking Network (GBN) – a worldwide network of organizations and experts focused on promoting and facilitating the use of benchmarking, sharing best practices and working together – in collaboration with the Department of Trade and Industry, Development Academy of the Philippines and the UP – Institute of Small Scale Industries.
The nationwide competition seeks to help Philippine businesses strengthen their long-term competitiveness by continuously improving organizational performance through adaptation of global best practices, especially in the advent of “ASEAN Economic Integration 2015.”
Tanauan City’s entry was cited for best demonstrating the organization-wide role of benchmarking in improving and innovating drive in terms of leadership commitment, pervasiveness in benchmarking, formality and the results achieved.
Mayor Antonio Halili, accompanied by the Tanauan City’s Benchmarking Team composed of Juanita Marfa, Jacqueline Landicho and Regina Aala, received the award during the 26th National Quality Forum organized by the Philippine Society for Quality, Inc. (PSQ) held at the Makati Shangri-La Hotel. (PNA)
