Graduate of PNU-Cadiz City in Negros Occidental tops teachers’ board exam

BACOLOD CITY, Oct. 28 (PNA) — Another Negrense is a board examination topnotcher.

Nixon Somblingo Balandra, a graduate of Philippine Normal University-Cadiz City in Negros Occidental, topped the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) given by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) last August.

Last month, Patrick Joseph Mabugat, a graduate of the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos (UNO-R) in Bacolod, also topped the Medical Technology Licensure Examination conducted by the PRC last September 13 and 14, with a score of 90.9 percent.

Garnering a score of 90.2 percent, Balandra landed first place in the secondary teachers examination taken by 77,803 examinees. Only 34.4 percent or 26,767 examinees passed.

In both the secondary and elementary teachers examinations, six other examinees from Bacolod and Negros Occidental also made it to the Top 10, results released Monday showed.

Other secondary teachers exam Top 10 achievers are Karl Laurenz Gonzaga Diamante of Colegio de San Agustin-Bacolod, who placed third with a score of 89.8 percent, and Mark Xavier Aguirre Guanzon of the University of St. La Salle (USLS) in Bacolod, who took the fifth place with a score of 89.2 percent.

In elementary teachers examination, Quennie Klaire Avila Elli of USLS clinched the third place with a score of 88.8 percent while Janice Gentille Alison of UNO-R, with 88.6 percent, placed fourth.

Jerry de la Cruz Ducay of PNU-Cadiz landed the eighth spot, with 87.80 percent, while Elma Barredo Pantilagan of Carlos Hilado Memorial State College-Talisay City, took the 10th place with a score of 87.40 percent.

Out of the 70,786 examinees in the elementary level, 25,301 passed or 35.74 percent.

USLS in Bacolod was eighth in the Top 10 schools in the secondary level with the most number of passers, with 69 passers out 86 examinees, or 80.23 percent passing rate. (PNA)
