ILOILO CITY, Oct. 28 (PNA) — The city government here is a recipient of tools and equipment from the Citynet Yokohama Project Office and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to be used by five barangays in Jaro district in their disaster awareness and mitigation programs.
City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog said the equipment will benefit Barangays Balabago, Buntatala, Calubihan, Dungon A and San Isidro, all in Jaro.
The donated equipment given on Monday include identified standard items by the city disaster risk reduction management (CDRRMC) used in flood, earthquake, fire response including communications and early warning system.
Some of these are fire extinguishers, smoke detector alarm, life jackets, rain coats, emergency flashlights, rubber boots, helmets, ring buoys, megaphones, knapsack sprayers, jacks, ropes, sledge hammers and more.
The project aims to devise effective community-level adaptation and resiliency schemes in Iloilo City and increase awareness of the citizens in the event of a disaster particularly during floods. (PNA)
