SAN NICOLAS, Ilocos Norte, Oct 25 (PNA) –The municipal government of this town in the second district of Ilocos Norte bagged this year’s search for Most Business-Friendly municipality in the Philippines, making it a Hall of famer for winning the award for three consecutive years.

San Nicolas power couple, Mayor Melanie Valdez and Vice Mayor Alfredo Valdez received on Friday, October 24 the prestigious award at the Manila Hotel.

Aside from receiving a plaque and certificate of recognition, the San Nicolas government was also given a school building with at least two classrooms.

San Nicolas won in the Level 1 Municipality category where it bested thousands of municipalities in the country.

As a first class municipality with the highest collection of local revenue sources, mayor Valdez expressed gratitude for making San Nicolas as a hall of famer it rightfully deserves, citing its mushrooming commercial center establishments and mall chains like Robinsons and the soon to rise SM in Barangay 1.

Situated at the heart of Ilocos Norte or in between the cities of Laoag and Batac, San Nicolas is now considered as the fastest booming investment hub in the north.

The Search for the Most Business-Friendly LGU is being organized by the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry to recognize local government units in their effort to promote competitive and conducive investment climate.

San Nicolas government continues to lure investors here through the passage of business-friendly legislations to promote San Nicolas as a business destination while ensuring transparency in governance and good practice of private and public partnership in support of the core program of the Aquino administration.(PNA)
