PSWDO supports Universal Children’s Month celebration

LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte, Oct 25 (PNA) –Hundreds of Day Care Workers and Day Care Service Parents Group Officers and children from the different cities and municipalities of Ilocos Norte gathered on Friday at the Laoag City Centennial Arena to celebrate the Universal Children’s Month this October.

As part of the annual celebration, this year’s activity highlights “draw and tell” and singing competition, participated in by Day Care pupils from the different municipalities and cities in Ilocos Norte.

The annual event, organized by the Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) Office, was supported by the Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte.

Priscilla Dada of the PSWDO said hundreds of children joined the event.

According to Dada, the annual event is being observed by the provincial government to encourage parents and youth, especially the children, to discover their own talents.

Winners in the draw and tell completion came from San Marcelino, Dingras (first place), Bacarra (second place) and Paoay (third place) while in the singing category, winners were from the municipalities of Carasi, Dingras and Burgos.

Cash prizes ranging from Php 3,000 to Php 1,000 were given to the children. Also, non-winners were given Php 500 each as consolation prize.

All winners in the children’s competition will represent Ilocos Norte at the Regional level to be held in La Union province on October 29.(PNA)
