LUCENA CITY, Quezon Oct 23 (PNA) – The city council here sets three consecutive public hearings to tackle the Lucena City Market Code of 2014 – Towards a Modern Public Market and other related services proposed by city councilor Benny Brizuela
Councilor Brizuela previously proposed this market code on June 16, claiming “the market code is not only timely but also necessary.”
His second attempt to push the code was on July 7 titled ”On the Agenda: A sustainable economic growth for all Lucenahin via 2013 Market Code of Lucena City and on August 4, 2014, he dubbed his code as “Market Code: one way to help uplift the Lucenahin’s quality of life.”
Based on Brizuela’s recommendation, the three-cluster sessions of the public hearing should be attended by the City Legal Officer, City Administrator, City Engineering Officer, barangay captains, presidents and secretaries of public Market associations, public market administrator, city treasurer, BPLO, CHO, media representatives, DTI, city council committee chairmen especially the Ways & Means committee, and trade and commerce cooperatives.
The second session should also be participated by the City Legal Officer, City Administrator, CEO, barangay captains from Silangan Mayao, Kanluran, Crossing, Isabang, Iyam, Talim, Gulang-gulang and Cotta, fish, meat, vegetables, fruits sections associations. president & secretary of agriculture associations, CHO, CVO, media representatives, DTI, Lucena City Chinese Chamber of Commerce, mall managers, piggery, poultry owners, public market administrator, supervisors/managers and city council committees.
The final session, aside from the above mentioned, should be participated by the City Veterinarian, and the remaining barangay captains of the city..
Councilor Brizuela said he would prepare guide questions for the committee members and would highlight the difference of the new market revenue code compared with the old code.
Brizuela added that this new Code would be vital in upgrading the existing market code and he expects it to be most helpful in the upliftment of the economic conditions of the people who depend on the public market as their source of income. (PNA)
