LUCENA CITY, Quezon, Oct. 23 (PNA) -– The Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Lucena City has exceeded its target number of 200 registrants in their “satellite voter’s biometric registration” at the Pacific Mall here every Friday, and is encouraged to extend the services until December.
Catalina Jabrica, Pacific Mall manager, said they did not expect the activity would generate almost 400 registrants every Friday, enforcing their fervent advocacy to partner business with corporate social responsibility.
She concluded that perhaps the convenient and comfortable environment of their mall encouraged Lucena residents to not wait for the last minute voter’s registration and instead, took advantage of the easy registration procedure in the satellite services.
Comelec-Lucena OIC-Election Officer Julian Rodelas said they decided to extend their satellite registration activity at the Pacific Mall to promote their mobile services. He added that they also put up an express lane for the senior citizens, persons with disabilities and pregnant women as special service.
Rodelas appeals to the people of Lucena, especially to those who haven’t undergone biometric procedures, to come to their office and be registered so they can vote in the 2016 national elections. (PNA)
