MANILA, Oct. 21 (PNA) — Local share prices extended their winning streak for a second day on Tuesday, spurred by upbeat United States (US) data.
The bellwether Philippine stock exchange index (PSEi) increased 10.50 points to 7,068.03 from previous day’s 7,057.35 close.
Brokerage firm 2TradeAsia.com said traders recouped losses incurred in previous sessions.
It said the better-than-expected economic data in the US also fuelled the PSEi’s rise.
The US consumer sentiment increased this month while housing and permits rose in September.
2TradeAsia.com said some investors also positioned ahead of the local monetary board’s meeting this Thursday, aside from the first-quarter window dressing.
All counters were in the positive territory, except the property sector that declined 1.22 percent.
Volume of transactions reached 7.67 billion shares valued at P7.12 billion.
Advancers slightly outpaced decliners, 89 to 87, while 46 issues were unchanged. (PNA)
