Regional work safety summit set Oct. 23 in Bacolod City

BACOLOD CITY, Oct. 20 (PNA) — The Safety Organization of Negros Occidental, (SONO) and the Western Visayas Occupational Safety and Health Network (WVOSHnet), in coordination with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Region 6, will hold the 1st Western Visayas Safety Summit on October 23 and 24 at the Bacolod Pavillon Hotel here.

Labor Undersecretary Ciriaco Lagunzad III will be the keynote speaker.

Themed “Achieving a Sustainable Safety and Health Program: A Social Responsibility,” the gathering aims to foster a safe working environment.

It will be attended by safety officers, pollution control officers, medical personnel, members of the academe, personnel officers and safety advocates from different industries in the region.

Experts on safety and health, security and environment will tackle the role of safety officers in the implementation of labor laws compliance system; victim assessment during a disaster “TRIAGE;” management of the dead and the missing during a disaster; food safety management system; emergency response planning; bullying in the workplace; and vehicle fleet safety, among others.

A display of safety and health products, environment-friendly chemicals, and other products for home and industrial uses from different exhibitors will also be featured.
