Posted on October 19, 2014

CALAMBA CITY, Laguna Oct19 (PNA) – To commemorate World Post Day, the Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) in partnership with the Department of Education, Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino and SM Supermalls held Saturday the 2nd National Letter Writing Day.

Dubbed as PINASaya, this campaign helps the students hone their writing composition skills and foster the enjoyment of sending and receiving letters through the postal office.

A total of 300 students from Barreto Sr. National High School (Calamba), Crest Christian School and San Pablo National High School (San Pablo) participated in the simultaneous letter writing using the postcards provided by PHLPost.

Dr. Mariliza Espada – Principal of Barreto SR. National High school together with Mr. Arvin Macandile – PHLPost Director for Admin and Finance for Southern Luzon Area 4 and postmasters of Calamba and UPLB, were present in the event at SM City-Calamba while Luzon Postal Area Director Mario Lanuza graced the activity at SM City-San Pablo with City Councilor Arnel Ticzon, Dr. Consuelo Santos and Ms. Evelyn Malabag of Department of Education.

The National Letter Writing Day is PHLPost’s annual event that hopes to reintroduce the art of letter writing to students and encourage them more to use letters as means of communication in today’s digital age.

Event highlights include the simultaneous letter writing of the students as well as the ceremonial dropping of letters to a mailbox. (PNA)
