CEBU CITY, Oct. 16 (PNA) — The Cebu Provincial Government has spent some P8.7 million in calamity aid during the second quarter of this year.
Records of the Cebu Provincial Accounting Office showed that of the amount, P4.5 million was transferred to the local government units (LGUs).
Boljoon town got P3 million for the rehabilitation of its multi-purpose building and sports complex.
The remaining amount was given to different barangays in northern Cebu.
Barangays Cajel, Campusong and Cadaruhan in Borbon got P100,000 each for the repair of their day care centers, waiting shed and pergola, and community stage, respectively, while Barangay Bagacay received P50,000 also for the repair of its day care center.
In Bogo City, Barangay Don Pedro got P200,000 for the construction of a covered court; Barangay La Paz got P150,000 for the rehabilitation of its barangay hall and P30,000 for the repair of the barangay outpost; and Barangay Bungtod received P35,000 for the repair of street-lights and its barangay hall.
Bogo City also got another P300,000 for the repair of Don Celestino Martinez Sr. Sports Complex.
In Madridejos, Barangay Talangnan got P100,000 for the repair of its multi-purpose building, Barangay Tarong got P30,000 for road concreting; and Barangay Malbago got P30,000 for the rehabilitation of its multi-purpose building.
Barangay Sonog in San Francisco in Camotes Island received P50,000 for the construction of a public market; Barangay Kinatarcan in Santa Fe received P100,000 for the repair of the barangay stage and multi-purpose pavement; Barangay Balungag in San Fernando received P30,000 for the purchase of handheld radios; Barangay Santo Niño in Tuburan received P60,000 for the rehabilitation of flood control facilities; and Barangay Atop-Atop in Bantayan received P30,000 for the repair of the barangay public market.
The calamity fund was also utilized for maintenance and other operating expenses, insurance, training and traveling expenses, and others.
The provincial government has appropriated P109.9 million for the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Fund (DRRMF), also known as calamity fund for this year.
During the first quarter, the provincial government spent P5.6 million, of which P4.1 million were transferred to LGUs affected by the typhoon.
A total of P95.4 million remains unutilized for the rest of the year. (PNA)
