ILOILO CITY, Oct. 16 (PNA) -– A tornado hit the town of Guimbal in the sourthern part of Iloilo province on Wednesday, leaving behind P638,500 worth of damages on houses, piggeries and fallen trees.
In a consolidated report sent by the Guimbal Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC) Thursday, the tornado partially and totally damaged houses in Barangays Bagumbayan, Torreblanca-Blumentritt, Generosa- Cristobal Colon, Nanga and Rizal Tuguisan.
There were 31 partially damaged houses and one totally damaged. Five cottages were also totally damaged with a piggery partially damaged.
There were two big trees uprooted in Bagumbayan, 10 in Cristobal Colon, 20 in Rizal Tuguisan, and 10 in Pescadores.
The tornado hit the coastal town of Guimbal about noontime and caused panic to the residents and municipal employees of the Guimbal Municipal Hall. (PNA)
