MANILA, Oct. 16 (PNA)– The art of gift wrapping, particularly during Christmas, New Year and special days like birthdays, Valentine’s Day, weddings and others is a fine headstart for artists and businesses that relates to the finer things in life.
For this reason, one of the country’s best modern age museums—the towering glass structured Yuchengco Museum at Ayala Avenue in Makati City is holding a Furoshiki art seminar on Nov. 8 at 3 p.m. until 5 p.m.
”It’s time to give everyone the chance to learn a pleasant, easy trade or art that will last for a lifetime with the use of eco-friendly materials.
“This is a culture and art combination that’s being learned worldwide for aesthetic purpose,” Yuchengco Museum Programs Officer Elma Abrina.
Abrina said the workshop fee is P600 which includes materials.
The Japanese art of Furoshiki gift wrapping uses pieces of cloth as the wrapper.
Participants are taught how to use a bandanna or handkerchief to wrap gifts of different shapes, colors, sizes and contents.
Using traditional Furoshiki techniques with today’s ribbons and charms, one can discover how to wrap gifts that are beautiful, lasting and truly worth keeping so that friends and family will want to receive first and unwrap last.
One of the instructors is a company strategic brand planner, Vicky Ortega whose passion truly lies in finding unique gift-wrapping ways that never lacks appreciation from receivers and display viewers.
Another instructor is a successful marketing consultant, Nenette Sadiua who is on her second bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts and an expert in preparing creative gift baskets, boxes and other containers.
Workshop details may be obtained by calling up Ms Abrina at (632)889-1234. (PNA)
