TACLOBAN CITY, Oct 13 (PNA) — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) here assured consumers of sufficient supply of noche buena products as the holiday season draws near.
“Manufacturers have assured the DTI that there will be enough, sufficient supply of noche buena products,” DTI Leyte director Desiderio P. Belas Jr. said during the opening of the 4th Consumer Information Market and Exhibit here on Monday.
However, he said that there are already slight increases in some of the products ranging from 15 centavos up to Php97.00
“From time to time, DTI will update the public on the movement of products,” he assured.
Nonetheless, he advised consumers to always look at the prices of goods and compare them with the suggested retail price (SRP), look at the expiration date and compared the weights and brands to be able to save.
“SRP is suggested by manufacturers but already computed with allowance by the retailer,” he explained.
Belas said that if the price goes beyond the SRP, the consumers could file a complaint with the DTI. The subject establishment will be ordered to submit their costing and pricing that will be compared with the SRP.
The SRP covers groceries, supermarkets and wet markets, he added. (PNA)
