Child friendly barangay nominees up for evaluation

BAGUIO CITY, Oct. 13 (PNA) -– The assessment team will start evaluating Monday the 10 nominees for the search for the child friendly barangay.

The assessment team is composed of representatives from the Sangguniang Panlungsod, Department of Interior and Local Government – City Field Office (DILG-CFO), City Health Services Office (CHSO), City Planning and Development Office (CPDO), Department of Education (DepEd) Division Office, Baguio Center for Young Adults (BGYA), Special Services Division of the Mayor’s Office, and Save our School Children Foundation, Inc (SOSCF).

City Social Welfare Officer Cynthia Langagan, in an interview said the Search for Child Friendly Barangay is an annual search which institutionalizes a child friendly environment and governance at the level that promotes and protects children’s rights and welfare.

Aside from the recognition and cash prizes awarded to the most child friendly barangays, the search aims to encourage barangays in Baguio to address issues and concerns on children, 18 years old below.

The search has been helpful in their promotion of advocacies that contributes to achieving a child friendly city of Baguio,” said Langagan.

Winners in the search will receive PhP40,000 for the 1st prize; PhP30,000 for the 2nd prize; PhP20,000 for the 3rd prize; and PhP5,000 consolation prices for the following top seven barangays. (PNA)
