MANILA, Oct. 13 (PNA) — Classes in all levels are suspended Wednesday, October 15, in Bohol province in commemoration of the Bohol earthquake’s 1st anniversary.
October 15 has been declared as a special non-working day in the province through Proclamation No. 887 issued last October 9 by President Benigno S. Aquino III and signed by Executive Secretary Paquito N. Ochoa Jr.
The declaration gives the people of the province of Bohol the full opportunity to commemorate the said event through prayer and thanksgiving.
On October 15, 2013, a 7.2-magnitude earthquake jolted the province and other parts of the Visayas region which damaged several houses, bridges, schools and historic churches.
According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) more than 200 people died from the quake. (PNA)
