MANILA, Oct. 12 (PNA) — The government is calling for consumers and businesses to conserve energy to realize savings on their electricity bills amid a projected shortage in the summer of 2015.
As the Department of Energy hosts the 2014 Consumer Welfare Month (CWM) this October, it has launched two valuable and informative websites that offer practical energy-saving tips and information.
The www.kuryente.org.ph provides an impartial comparison of electricity tariff of private electric utilities and electric cooperatives, components of the electric bill, power plants’ and generation companies’ installed and dependable capacities, basic information on the local electric distribution utilities and electric cooperatives, among others.
On the other hand, the www.wattmatters.org.ph, provides a list of home appliances and their corresponding wattage ratings.
The data and information will help consumers do a quick calculation of the electricity consumption of their appliances by clicking “consumption calculator.”
“The awareness that this tool creates makes consumers more conscious in finding ways to reduce their electric bills,” the DOE said.
The commemoration of the 18th year of CWM carries the banner theme, “Sapat na Impormasyon : Susi sa Wastong Paggamit ng Enerhiya.”
It advocates for the promotion of consumer welfare and protection. (PNA)
