LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte, Oct. 6 (PNA) — Over 130 police personnel at the Ilocos Norte Police Provincial Office (INPPO) joined in a 45-day rigid training on Special Counter Insurgency Operations Unit Training (SCOUT) launched on Monday.
Police Senior Supt. Antonio Mendoza Jr., acting provincial director of the INPPO based in Camp Valentin S. Juan in Laoag City, said the training aims to improve the physical stamina of police officers here during combat operations.
According to the PNP, it is one of the toughest parts of trainings among police personnel as it teaches every basic detail in Internal Security Operations (ISO).
In September 2011, it may be recalled that the Philippine Army already declared Ilocos Norte as insurgency-free which resulted to more investors coming in.
“Nonetheless, we still need to train our PNP personnel with different tactics and strategies to ensure public safety because our neighboring provinces such as in Ilocos Sur and Abra remain threatened,” Mendoza said during the opening ceremony.
As part of the 45-day training, scout trainees will undergo rope courses, close quarter battle, first aid, immediate action drill, water or seaborne tactics, terrain modelling, survival, field training exercises and community immersion, among others. (PNA)
