MANILA, Oct. 4 (PNA) — Typhoon “Neneng” is now outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) heading towards southern Japan, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Saturday.
PAGASA said that as of 4 a.m. the eye of Typhoon “Neneng” (Phanfone) was located 1,240 km northeast of Itbayat, Batanes (25.3°N, 132.9°E), packed with maximum sustained winds of 175 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 210 kph. It is forecast to move northwest at 20 kph.
For Saturday forecast, PAGASA said an Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) is now affecting Southern Mindanao.
Because of the ITZC, Western Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula and the province of Palawan will experience cloudy skies with light to moderate rains.
Meanwhile, rest of the country, including Metro Manila, will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains due to localized thunderstorms.
PAGASA also said moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast to northwest will prevail over the northern and eastern sections of Luzon and coming from the west and southwest over the eastern section of Visayas and of Mindanao.
The coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough.
Light to moderate winds coming from the northeast to northwest will prevail over the rest of Luzon and coming from the southwest over the rest of the country with slight to moderate seas.
The state weather bureau also issued gale warning as strong to gale force winds associated with the Typhoon Neneng would affect the northern and eastern seaboards of Northern Luzon.
“Fishing boats and other small seacrafts are advised not to venture out into the sea while larger sea vessels are alerted against big waves,” it warned. (PNA)
