Globe Telecom launches breakthrough Cloud storage service

Posted on September 19, 2014

MANILA, Sept. 19 (PNA) — Globe Telecom on Friday launched its breakthrough personal cloud storage service, as part of it commitment of improving today’s digital lifestyle.

Globe Cloud is an app from the telco’s suite of mobile applications that lets users automatically back-up contacts, messages, photos, music and videos stored on their mobile phone to a secure cloud location.

Glenn Estrella, Globe Vice President for Digital Media, said that users can access Globe Cloud from any device, making the experience easy, convenient, and hassle-free.

“Globe Cloud is now available even to individual customers who look for a safe and secure storage for their files,” Estrella said in a statement.

“(It) is one of our biggest innovations this year as we serve our customers’ digital lifestyles and take their mobile experience to the next level,” she added.

To recall, the telco recently partnered with Finland’s top online security and privacy company F-Secure to ensure safety and security of a customer’s digital information with Globe Cloud.

With Globe Cloud, users can access and manage all files and even contacts from their smartphones, tablets, computer or any mobile browser. They can also transfer contacts from one phone to another as well as stream music and videos.

Furthermore, users may add other existing personal storage accounts (for ex. Dropbox, photos from Facebook, and Google Picasa accounts) which enables the user to access and view all his digital files in one place.

The service also promotes affordability and value-for-money, as it is considered as one of the most affordable cloud storage services in the world with extra storage offered at a monthly or annual subscription.

A cloud storage of 1GB is available for as low as P15 per month, while 100GB is at P499 per month. Customers purchasing extra cloud storage can either charge the amount to their prepaid load or postpaid bill.

Globe Cloud can be downloaded for free from Google Play Store or iTunes App Store and comes with free 1 GB worth of storage.

Globe Cloud is part of the telco’s app portfolio that provides customers services helpful in their everyday routine. Globe also has GServices to manage one’s postpaid account, GMovies for movie ticket purchases and seat reservations for Ayala Malls Cinemas, and GDeals for discounts, freebies and exclusive Globe offers.
