MANILA, Sept. 18 (PNA) — The government is continuously monitoring the prices of food and other basic commodities to protect consumers from unjustified increases, a Palace official said on Thursday.
“Yung consumer protection group ng DTI (Department of Trade and Industry) continues to conduct their monitoring,” said Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Abigail Valte in a Palace press briefing.
She was reacting to a report that prices of pork and meat reached P200 a kilo and ginger at P300 a kilo.
On prices of other basic goods, Valte noted some increases in the costs of canned sardines as manufacturers are shifting to the easy open cans.
“But nababantayan naman po ng DTI,” she added. (PNA)
