MANILA, Sept. 18 (PNA) — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has urged young Filipinos or those below 18 years old to register this month for the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections on Feb. 21, 2015.
The nine-day registration is set to start on Sept. 20 and end on Sept. 29 in all Offices of the Election Officer (OEOs) nationwide, Comelec Chairman Sixto Brillantes said.
Those who are qualified to register are Filipinos between 15 and 17 years old. They only need to accomplish one copy of the registration form, which can be downloaded from the Comelec website (http://www.comelec.gov.ph/AFR/SKOnlineApplicationForm.php)
The poll body urged qualified applicants to download the application form so that they will be able to accomplish it before going to the OEOs.
Aside from the accomplished application form, an SK applicant is required to present any of the following documents: Certificate of Live Birth; Baptismal Certificate; school records; or any other document that will establish his or her identity and other qualifications, except a Community Tax Certificate and a certification of barangay official.
On the other hand, the Comelec said those who already registered last July 22 to July 31, 2013 need not register anew.
The poll body had already conducted an SK voter registration where they enlisted a total of 3,205,967 youth voters prior to the postponement of the Oct. 28, 2013 SK polls.
Earlier, the Comelec en banc already directed all its Election Officers (EOs) to identify all registered SK voters that are already or will turn 18 years old on Election Day and submit their names for deletion from the SK Computerized Lists of Voters. (PNA)
