Posted on September 16, 2014

BAGUIO CITY, September 16 (PNA) –- The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (PDRRMCs) and Baguio City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (BCDRRMC) are currently conducting Rapid Damage Assessment Needs Analysis (RDANA) in their respective areas of responsibility (AOR).

Regional RDANA is now activated to conduct assessment in provinces heavily stricken by typhoon “Luis” and is expected to be deployed tomorrow, September 17.

From the reports gathered from the PDRRMC, there were 253 families or a total of 982 individuals now in evacuation centers.

These individuals are residents of barangays in high risk areas or near slopes and mountainside that may erode.

Major thoroughfares to Kalinga, Apaya and Abra are open to traffic but Kennon Road to Baguio is closed including Kiangan-Tinoc Road and Banaue-Hungduan Road in Ifugao and Mt. Province-Ilocos Sur Road due to landslides.

Damage to crops in the region was estimated to be more than Php19 million at rice at Php13.6 million, corn crops at Php4.8 million and high value crops at Php1.06 million.

The CRDRRMC members – Department of Health (DOH), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Department of Interiors and Local Government (DILG), the Philippine Information Agency (PlA), Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Department of Agriculture (DA), Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), Philippine Military Academy (PMA), Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Police Regional Office –Cordillera (PRO-Cor) are still on red alert as it continuously monitor eventualities that may arise from the damages brought by typhoon Luis.
