TESDA, DepEd coordinate to train TLE teachers in handling 23 tech-voc courses

MANILA, Sept. 10 (PNA) — In line with the K to 12 curriculum, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and the Department of Education (DepEd) have been working hand in hand to train around 20,040 Tehnology and Livelihood Education (TLE) teachers in handling 23 exploratory tech-voc courses.

The TESDA will administer the assessment and certification of those who will be trained for Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in senior high school.

To date, the TESDA has developed, refined, evaluated, and finalized the curricula,teacher guides and learning guides for Grades 7 and 8, which is currently being used in the K to 12 program, and for Grades 9 to 12.

The tech-voc curriculum in senior high school must follow the standards set by TESDA.

The following are the number of Grade 9 TLE teachers who will be trained and assessed by TESDA: 4,261 in Agri-fishery; 8,699 in Home Economics; 3,429 in Information and Communications Technology; and 3,681 in Industrial Arts.

The courses which the teachers will be taking up according to their assigned category are: Animal Production, Crop Production, Aquaculture, Food processing, Horticulture, Beauty Care, Caregiving, Cookery, Dressmaking, Front Office, Handicraft, Household Services, Computer Hardware Servicing, Contact Services Center, Technical Drafting, Automotive, Carpentry,Masonry, Plumbing, Comnsumer Electronics Servicing, Electrical Installation and Maintenance Shielded Metal-Arc Welding, and Refrigeration and Air-conditioning.
