BAGUIO CITY, September 9 (PNA) -– The construction company linked to the controversial tree cutting and road construction on Mt. Sto. Tomas in Benguet won the bidding to rehabilitate the Baguio Athletic Bowl.
In an interview today, September 9, Baguio City District Engineering Office (BCDEO) head engineer Alfredo Banagao Jr said RUA construction submitted the lowest bid for the rehabilitation of the bleachers at Php13,583,642 besting two other bidders.
The planned rehabilitation may commence in two weeks and must be completed after 112 days, Banagao said.
Banagao added that the BCDEO will conduct a post evaluation of RUA’s capability to undertake the project by inspecting the equipment and manpower.
The program of work involves replacement the dilapidated wooden bleachers, replacement of the decaying posts, columns and truss with concrete, replacement of roof connections with stronger materials and the corrugated roof with long span or rib type roofing.
Earlier, the BCDEO announced the first bidding last August 5 a failure because RUA construction failed to submit a report of projects previously undertaken by the company.
RUA construction at the time also submitted the lowest bid, Banagao added.
The rehabilitation of the bleachers and roof is the first phase of the project being readied for the Cordillera Athletic Meet in February 2015. (PNA)
