MANILA, Sept. 7 (PNA) — Malacanang on Sunday said the government is working to ensure adequate supply of electricity in Luzon next year.
“Bibigyan ng pamahalaan ng mataas na prayoridad ang pagtugon sa maaaring maging kakulangan ng supply ng kuryente sa Luzon sa susunod na taon,” said Presidential Communication Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. in a press briefing over DZRB Radyo ng Bayan.
Coloma said the country is exploring all options, including the proposed emergency powers, to ensure enough power supply.
Energy Secretary Carlos Jericho Petilla has recommended that President Benigno S. Aquino III will be granted emergency powers to avert a possible power shortage in the summer of 2015.
“Ayon kay Secretary Petilla, nais ng Pangulo ang ganap na pagtukoy sa lahat ng mga opsyon na maaaring pagtulungan ng mga industry player para matugunan ang sitwasyon,” Coloma said.
He said this was the declared directive of President Aquino when he delivered his State-of-the-Nation Address (SONA) in July. (PNA)
