BACOLOD CITY, Sept 6 (PNA) — The cities of Sagay and Escalante in Negros Occidental received relief goods for their constituents earlier this week, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Region 6 said.
The trucks containing the relief goods were transported via a roll-on, roll-off vessel.
Sagay was provided 3,000 food packs while Escalante received 6,038 food packs. Due to the volume of goods for hauling, the truck sent by Sagay will have to do four loadings to complete the hauling of 13,268 food packs.
Escalante has already received its complete allocation.
The relief goods are part of the 515,071 food packs for the last round of distribution. There are still 62,972 remaining food packs, the DSWD said.
Cadiz City will send four trucks to get their allocation totaling to 24,560 food packs. The remaining areas with unclaimed food packs include Silay City, Victorias City, Manapla and E.B. Magalona.
The DSWD aims to complete the release of goods by September 15.
The agency is also working with the Philippine National Police and the Armed Forces of the Philippines for the hauling of the goods to LGUs which have difficulty in finding trucks to transport the goods intended for their respective localities.(PNA)
