Posted on September 4, 2014

BACOLOD CITY, Sept. 4 (PNA) — Twenty-five community leaders representing various sectors in Barangay Sta. Rosa, Murcia participated in a grassroots Community Development Planning (CDP) workshop Wednesday in line with the celebration of the Peace Month this September.

Dubbed Healing, Reconciliation, Peace and Empowerment Program, the activity was spearheaded by the Provincial Peace Integration and Development Unit (Pro-PIDU) in collaboration with the Philippine Army through the 303rd Infantry Brigade, government agencies and other non-government organizations.

The Pro-PIDU aims at bringing the government closer to the people by providing them with basic services and sustainable livelihood.

Col. Jon Aying, commander of the 303rd IB, addressed the people by highlighting the importance of healing, reconciliation and empowerment within the community to achieve sustainable peace.

Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator Ma. Lina Sanogal, action officer of Pro-PIDU, delivered the governor’s message and stated that peace should be present in order to achieve progress within the community.

Murcia Municipal Agriculturist Edgar Alcanta shared Murcia Mayor Andrew Montelibano’s message of support to the provincial government’s programs for the people of Murcia.

Residents also availed of the free medical/dental services, family packs, livelihood supplies, medicines and services from the Provincial Health Office, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office, Provincial Veterinary Office, Provincial Agriculturist Office, Provincial Environment and Management Office and non-government organizations.(PNA)
