DepEd, NCCT call for entries for 6th Cinepambata Video Festival

MANILA, Aug. 29 (PNA) — The Department of Education (DepEd) supports the National Council for Children’s Television (NCCT) in its continuous promotion of children’s rights and Filipino values through its call for entries for the 6th Cinepambata Video Festival which aims to showcase videos made by the youth.

The one-minute video competition is open to all Filipinos aged 17 years and below. A production team composed of a maximum of 10 members coming from the same school, barangay, or organization is welcome to join the contest.

Video entries must be a public service announcement (PSA) tackling about the rights and experiences of children.

The deadline for submission is on Sept. 5, 2014. Entries may be submitted in person or through mail addressed at NCCT Room B403, 4th Floor, Bonifacio Building, DepEd Complex, Meralco Avenue, Pasig City.

Shortlisted videos will be screened in four major cities in the country by October. Winners will receive plaques, certificates, and cash prizes.

For the Best Video category, the winner will receive Php 10,000; Php 2,000 for Best Direction; Php 2,000 for Best Story; Php 4,000 for Special Jury Prize; and Php 3,000 for Audience Choice.

Creators of shortlisted videos will be informed via telephone, mobile or electronic mail. An announcement will also be made on NCCT’s facebook page.

Aside from one-minute video entries, the NCCT is also accepting short films for and about children which is open to all Filipinos at all ages. Entries may last for 10 to 20 minutes and may be in a form of a short narrative or documentary.

Since 2009, the NCCT has been annually holding the said festival every October which aims to raise awareness on issues concerning children by showcasing videos both made by the youth and independent film makers. (PNA)
