MANILA, Aug. 26 (PNA) — The low pressure area (LPA) hovering off Quezon province will continue to dump rains in most parts of Luzon in the next 24 hours, the state weather bureau said on Tuesday.
In an interview, Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) weather forecaster Buddy Javier said that as of 4 p.m., the LPA was spotted some 50 kilometers south of Infanta, Quezon (14.5ºN 121.7ºE).
Javier said based on the agency’s numerical models, the weather disturbance has a slim chance to become a tropical depression, but the agency continues monitoring it.
He said that due to the LPA, Metro Manila and Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon) will have cloudy skies with moderate to occasionally heavy rains and thunderstorms, while Central Luzon, Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan) and the provinces of Benguet, La Union and Pangasinan will experience cloudy skies with light to moderate rainshowers and thunderstorms until Wednesday.
The rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies and possible isolated rains due to localized thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening.
Javier said that no gale warning was issued so sea travel will be safe for fisherfolk and small seacraft. (PNA)
