MANILA (PNA), Aug. 18 (PNA) — Two armed robbers dropped dead after an exchange of bullets with an off-duty cop in Quezon City, Chief Supt. Reuben Theodore Sindac, PNP Public Information Office Chief said on Monday.
Sindac said the incident happened on Sunday night were two unidentified suspects arrived at Orange Fuel Gas Station along Quirino Highway on board a color black Suzuki motorcycle and posed as customers.
The back rider alighted and proceeded to the cashier’s booth and at gunpoint, divested the cashier of the establishment’s earnings.
Sindac said Police Officer 2 Cesar Tolentino, assigned at Station Investigation Division Management Section in Caloocan City Police Station, at that time is waiting for his motorcycle to be filled-up. He immediately responded after being informed by the gasoline boy.
He cautiously approached the suspects, introduced himself as police officer and ordered them to surrender peacefully. However, the suspects boarded the motorcycle and fled while the back rider fired his gun. But Tolentino retaliated, Sindac said.
He added the suspects were wounded and immediately brought by responding policemen to the East Avenue Medical Center for treatment but later pronounced dead by the attending physician.
The cashier of the gasoline station arrived at the hospital and positively identified the slain suspects as the very same persons who held them up, Sindac said.
Recovered from the suspects was the firearm used, a caliber .38 revolver loaded with four ammunition and two fired cartridge cases on its cylinder.
Further investigation is done by the Quezon City Police District. (PNA)
