URDANETA CITY, Pangasinan, (PNA) —- The local government unit (LGU) here in partnership with the Filipino- Chinese Love and Care Foundation Inc. (FCLCFI) seeks to train some 300 residents and non-residents on the fundamentals of computer.
The first batch composed of 100 trainees has started their 18-day free training last August 4 by attending a 2.5-hour class daily in the mobile computer classroom provided by the FCLCFI.
Mi-Amor Divad, executive assistant and the coordinator of the project, said the training is open to all people from ages eight to 60 years adding that there are still available slots to be filled in.
The project offers training on MS Windows, MS Word, MS Excel and MS Powerpoint and thosenwho graduate from the training will be given certification from the Technical Skills Development Authority (TESDA) which they could use for employment purposes.
Rashed Domingo, trainer from FCLCFI, said the organization wanted to share their knowledge on the basics of computer to residents of a town or city upon the request of their LGU.
The oldest trainee of the first batch is a 57 year-old former overseas Filipino worker named Jaime Reyes who commended the free training.
“This is an opportunity for us who wanted to learn more about computer other than social networking because enrolling in a computer school would cost us unlike this one which is free,” said Reyes.
The LGU invites those who are interested to visit the Mayor’s Office for details on how to avail of the free training
