Philippines PGMA Dedicates Three Convergys Contact Centers Simultaneously

Posted on April 2, 2009

CINCINNATI & SANTA ROSA, LAGUNA, Philippines–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Convergys Corporation (NYSE: CVG), a global leader in relationship management, announces the simultaneous grand dedication of three new state-of-the-art facilities in the Philippines, including a “green” contact center to be known as the Nuvali TechnoHub. The dedication was performed today by Her Excellency, Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, president of the Republic of the Philippines, with Convergys President and CEO Dave Dougherty, and other senior executives in attendance.

The Nuvali TechnoHub, Convergys’ first “green” contact center, where the ceremony actually took place, along with two other contact centers in the Philippines, Cebu i3 in Cebu City, and the UP-Ayala Land TechnoHub in Quezon City, were all officially dedicated as part of a simultaneous dedication ceremony linked together by huge TV screens and communications satellites.

Dougherty, along with Andrea Ayers, president of Convergys’ Customer Management business, and Marife Zamora, Convergys Vice President and Philippines Country Manager, welcomed President Macapagal-Arroyo to the “green” facility and showed her some of its sustainability features.

Convergys’ new Nuvali TechnoHub contact center is not only “green” or environmentally friendly, but it also promotes a healthy lifestyle for its employees. For example, the new building features a series of internal bike ramps that allow employees to take their bicycles up to the higher floors of the building. This feature complements the master-planned network of bike lanes throughout the Nuvali community. The building is also fitted with “dual piping”, which allows the use of recycled water in bathrooms, thereby reducing the consumption of clean, potable water. The site itself is beside Nuvali’s man-made lake that serves multiple purposes, such as rainwater harvesting, fire reserve, and recycled water reservoir for use in landscaping irrigation. The facility also boasts an abundance of trees and shrubbery for better environmental air quality and habitat enhancement.

Inside, the Nuvali TechnoHub is equipped with low-flow water fixtures, energy efficient lighting and operational equipment, as well as a Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) for proper solid waste management. It features ergonomic furniture and products for employee well-being such as posture-improving desk chairs and special lighting to decrease eyestrain.

The Nuvali TechnoHub contact center boasts an open floor plan of 66,000 square feet and the ability to hold approximately 900 employees. This is Convergys’ twelfth contact center in the Philippines and its first in Santa Rosa, Laguna.

“Convergys strives to meet the needs of our current and future clients wherever that may take us in the world,” said Dougherty. “Convergys’ vision of being the voice and the technology behind all superior service experiences, recognized as the leading relationship management company in the markets we serve worldwide, is made possible by harnessing the individual strengths of peoples and cultures around the world. With these new facilities, we continue to tap the tremendous pool of resources available in the Philippines.”

“The opening of our newest facility not only helps Convergys effectively support our global clients and their customers, but it is green through and through – helping the environment with the newest green technologies and conservationism,” said Zamora. “As we continue to expand our contact centers in the Philippines, we open our newest site in Laguna with the hope that we leave a minimal impact on the environment for the benefit of the whole community.”

Within five years, Convergys has established 12 contact centers in the Philippines – seven located in Metro Manila, three in Cebu City, one in Bacolod City, and one in Santa Rosa, Laguna. These facilities include the new sites Convergys is adding to the country, as announced in May 2008. The new sites announced included Cebu Asiatown i3, UP Science Park, Nuvali, San Lazaro, and Glorietta.

Convergys closely integrates all of its facilities into Convergys’ Global Assurance Network. This gives Convergys control of its end-to-end operations and processes, and assures high redundancy and flexibility for our clients.
