MANILA, July 7 (PNA) — The 20-megawatt (MW) Unit 2 generating facility of the Energy Development Corporation’s (EDC’s) Bacon-Manito (Bac-Man) Geothermal Production Field in Bicol Region is undergoing a scheduled one month maintenance shutdown.
In a disclosure with the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) Monday, EDC said the affected unit went offline Monday to make way for the installation of a new turbine generator unit.
It explained that preparations for the shutdown started as early as January 29, 2013 after the company placed an order for the needed power generator.
The BacMan Geothermal Production Field has a capacity of 130 MW, with the Unit 1 generating a capacity of 110 MW.
Amid the scheduled maintenance works in Bac-Man Geothermal Production Field, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) Power Situation Outlook has specified an increase in capacity for the Luzon grid with about 9,032MW Monday from day-ago’s 8,033MW.
The 18,870- hectare BacMan Production Field is specifically located in the Bacon District of Sorsogon City and the Manito Albay town in Bicol. (PNA)
