MANILA, June 25 (PNA) — Malacanang reiterated on Wednesday its call for Filipinos to elect in the next polls leaders who will continue the administration’s reforms.
“Given the need to continue the reforms, I think the Filipino people will be more than knowledgeable to determine what kind of leaders they should elect for the next elections,” Presidential Spokesman Edwin Lacierda said in a press briefing at the Palace.
Lacierda was responding to a statement from the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) about the possible fielding of Senator Grace Poe as the administration’s candidate in the 2016 presidential elections.
He stressed that President Benigno S. Aquino has no announcement yet on the administration’s bet for the upcoming presidential polls.
“…The President has always maintained: ‘Let’s elect the officials who will continue the fight for reforms. So, does he specify any specific person or any particular individual? He has never specified anyone,” Lacierda said.
He noted that Poe reportedly is not yet ready to run for the presidency. (PNA)
