TSM Group to operate 25 more ships

Posted on June 9, 2014

MANILA, June 9 (PNA) — With the Filipino seafarers playing a valuable role in the safe transfer of cargo from one point to another, TSM Group of Companies, one of the Philippines’ largest providers of qualified and competent mariners, announced that it will hire additional crewmen for the 25 ships it will be manning this year.

This was stressed by its Chief Executive Officer Ian R. Garcia in a recent conference.

“These 25 ships consist of all vessels that the TSM Group of Companies is known to operate and speaks well of our principals’ continued trust in us,” Garcia said.

The group is known to operate tankers, bulkers and off-shore vessels.

At 25 seafarers per ship, regardless of type, Garcia said that this will amount to the employment of 500 qualified and competent seafarers.

Garcia attributes the company’s success to its “customer focus.”

“We treat our clients or ‘principals’ well, and we also treat our seafarers, including their families, in the same manner as our clients. We keep an ‘open door’ policy where the management and staff see to it that they are always available to serve. That has always been part of our business philosophy,” he pointed out.

The TSM Group consists of TSM Shipping (Phils.) and five other companies–TSM Holdings, MST Marine Services, JO Tankers Phils. Inc., Solvang Philippines and TSM Equities–and is part of the Thome Group of Companies, one of the world’s best names in providing high-quality ship management services that is headquartered in Singapore.

Aside from these companies, Garcia is pleased to report the addition of TSM Offshore (Phils.), Inc., Timur Ship Management (Phils.) and the Manila Domestic Shipping Agency.

TSM Offshore (Phils.) Inc., provides quality crewmen for offshore clients of the TSM Group while Timur Ship Management (Phils.) is a ship management for domestic and international vessels while Manila Domestic Shipping Agency is now making its headway in the local crew service market.

“This demonstrates the strong growth and expansion in the Philippines, ” Garcia emphasized, adding that as of May, the TSM Group has 4,400 seafarers at its roster.

“Currently, we have 4,400 onboard while the rest were either on vacation or undergoing training,” he revealed. (PNA)
