LINGAYEN, Pangasinan, March 22 (PNA) — Pangasinan producers and manufacturers were invited to join the Diversity Business Exposition to be held in California, USA on October 4.
This was learned from the newly-formed Technical Working Group (TWG) for Product Development and Export Promotion of the provincial government chaired by Provincial Administrator Rafael Howard F. Baraan.
Baraan discussed the invitation during a meeting with Pangasinan producers and manufacturers last March 19 at the Capitol Resort Hotel in Lingayen.
The exposition is being coordinated by the Pangasinan Brotherhood-USA Association, Inc. (PB-USA, Inc.) which is the province’s partner in export promotion and marketing based in Los Angeles, California.
Officers and members of the PB-USA, Inc. came to Pangasinan in September last year to hold a Trade-Product Sourcing and Manufacturing Seminar for local producers and manufacturers held at Leisure Coast Resort in Dagupan.
PB-USA Inc. president Eddie Ferrer, who hails from Pangasinan, said the seminar was an offshoot of initial discussions conducted by his group with various importers who have expressed willingness to buy Philippine-made products.
As a preparatory activity for the exposition, the TWG has conducted meetings and discussions with the local producers and invited speakers from the Design Center of the Philippines and the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources in Region 1 to help them enhance their capabilities to upgrade their products and meet the safety, quality and health standards of export products required by the U.S. market.
Baraan said that participation in a foreign trade exposition has been a long dream of local producers and investors for them to break into the export market. (PNA)
