MISAMIS ORIENTAL, Mar 17 (PNA) –Some 3,000 workers in Misamis Oriental started to undergo random drug test Monday morning at the provincial capitol grounds in Cagayan de Oro City.
Governor Yevgeny Vincente Emano led the initial random test of 20 capitol workers along with two department heads just after the “flag ceremony” at the provincial capitol grounds in Cagayan de Oro City.
“The random drug test will identify individuals who use drugs and those who have drug problems in order that the provincial government could initiate timely intervention,” Emano said.
He said that the random drug test will also serve as a deterrent to all the employees and will give them enough reason to resist pressure to take drugs.
Dina Mae S. Unito, of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), said that the efforts of the provincial government to get rid of drug dependents and users will set an example to other local government units.
“This is the first time that the administration of the provincial Capitol in Misamis Oriental coordinated with the PDEA in the conduct of a random drug testing among workers in the provincial government,” Unito added.
During the random test, Emano urged the provincial workers to shy away with drugs since it will interfere with the ability to serve the people of the province that would disrupt the working environment.
The provincial government started the random drug test to provincial workers in December last year where workers were negative of drugs.
Emano said that the random drug testing at the provincial Capitol is done every three months. The results would come out five days after the test. (PNA)
