ZAMBOANGA CITY, March 14 (PNA) — Mayor Ma. Isabelle Climaco-Salazar led the distribution Friday of cash assistance amounting to P79,000 to 24 families whose properties were damaged in three separate fire incidents and a grenade blast early this year in this city.
At the same time, Salazar has urged the recipients to use the financial aid to rebuild their homes and to work together with her administration to bring peace and progress in the city.
Based on guidelines set by the City Disaster Coordinating Council,
Families whose houses were totally damaged received P5,000 each while those with partially damaged houses get P3,000 each. Renters and boarders are also set to receive P2,000 (with totally damaged properties) and P1,000 (with partially damaged properties) in cash aid.
Seven of the 24 family-beneficiaries have received P5,000 each and 13 others got P3,000 each. One boarder was given P2,000 in cash assistance while three renters received P1,000 each.
Evelyn Barredo, one of cash aid’s recipients, expressed her gratitude and support to Salazar, saying the financial assistance will surely help her family rise back on its feet.
Nineteen of beneficiaries lost their properties, totally or partially, when fire broke out in Campo Islam (January 21), Talon-Talon (February 02) and Tetuan (January 25), while the other five were victims of a grenade blast in Ayala on February 21. (PNA)
