10,000 kilos of bangus to be grilled simultaneously in Dagupan

Posted on March 13, 2014

DAGUPAN CITY, March 13 (PNA)–More than 10,000 kilos of milkfish raised from the clayish fishponds of Dagupan wil be grilled during a big event called Bangusan Street , the penultimate activity of the Bangus Festival 2014 on April 30.

Mayor Belen T. Fernandez increased to 10 kilos the volume of bangus that would be grilled per individual or group participating in the event that will be held in the entire stretch of the De Venecia Expressway with a distance of more than three kilometers.

Fernandez said members of the Consignacion Wholesale Fish Market will supply this big volume of bangus to be grilled simultaneously in the Bangusan Street party.

Dr. Edwin Aguirre, Bangusan Street Party coordinator, disclosed that the original plan was to distribute only five kilos of bangus per person or group that bought grills from the festival’s executive committee at Php 2,500 per grill.

But Mayor Fernandez increased this to 10 kilos for the same price of Php 2,500 per grill and the buyer of the grill will be given not only the grill but also tong, chef’s hat, apron, salt charcoal and more.

Aguirre said that for this year’s street party, his committee has allocated 1,000 grills spaced at one meter per grill starting in front of Jacobo Restaurant up to the back of the parking area of CSI the City Mall or a distance of some three kilometers.

“We will be using new grills and if one will get two grills, we will provide him with one tent to protect him and his companions from the rain, if in case it rains,” said Aguirre.

To date, more than a month before April 30, the committee has disposed of 32 grills measuring about one meter long.

Eight elevated stages will also be set up where different artists and bands will be performing live to entertain the audience.

Aguirre, however, clarified that no grill will be set up over the bridge of the De Venecia Expressway. (PNA)
